China Hamilton/ Nicholas Driver had a great passion for precision engineering. Throughout his life he rebuilt and raced historic racing cars and motorcycles; rebuilt model steam engines and vintage bicycles/ auto-cycles; and was a boiler inspector for steam locomotives.

He was also a master clock-smith having at one point a career in antique clock and watch restoration.

Nick also designed and made jewelry and was a registered silver-smith.

Wherever he lived, one of the first priorities was to get his “fully stocked” workshop established. He was never complete without it.
